IND200 /INDIANA 200 CHASSIS
#G This chassis is very similar to the Indiana 100 with the
exception of the TCR (Tuning Control Panel). This panel also
contains the Teletext Chipset and Colour decoder, some versions
are non Text. Handsets are also different. Some versions made
in Romania have an electronically switched A/V board.
For all other faults please see IND100.

#1 HANDSETS.
This handset contains a SAA 3010 Ic with a Matrix style
Keyboard and a pair of I R Diodes.

No Operation.
Check output with Infra Red detector, if no output check
battery voltage, battery contacts, ceramic resonator and
IC.

#2 TCR PANEL IC300 MICROCONTROLLER.
This panel uses a PCA84C640/030 micro-controller which has
an I2C architecture, this is a fairly rugged device, unless
there is a serious CRT Flash-over. This device provides the
following functions:- Key panel Control,Tuning control and
Analog memory control, On screen Display, and Teletext Control.
AFC control.

Tuner Band Switching.
This is fitted to Tv's for the Irish and European markets only,
the OSD will display the Band selected and will auto switch at
the end of each sweep. On UK only versions the band switching
components are removed, a +12v supply is hardwired via link J1
to the Tuner and the OSD band switching is disabled by fitting
J2.

Tuning Control.
Not Tuning but OSD progresses.
Check output pin 1 IC300, this should be a 5V p/p square wave
whose markspace ratio changes with tuning progression.
Check +33V ref voltage source D001, if low replace D001 and C001
(CRT may have flashed over). Q300 faulty, R312 o/c.

Tuning Drift or AFC not controlling.
Gain of Q300 changing, R312 changing value, R313/R314/R364
changing value, C304/C306/C322 leaky, K300 connector pins or
Pcb tracks to tuner intermittent. Squarewave from Pin 1 mark-
space ratio changing (unlikely but if so check X300 and IC300).
AFC Drift.
First check Tuning voltage is not shifting ie 1V = 15Mhz approx,
if stable, set AFC using method in manual. If still drifting
check R327/R328, Q307 and C309 leaky.

Sweep Tuning Faults.
Will not stop sweeping.
Ident missing to pin 29 when passing a Video signal, due to
K300 P6 o/c, any components assoc with Q310/Q311.

Slow Tuning and Slow Function Operation.
Look at the SDA and SCA lines, if there are bursts of pulses
and not continuous, the +12V supply is missing to IC 900 (Text
only),which upsets the Data and clock line, Look at the Pcb
Tracks going through the Small Interlace PCB, the +12v line will
be broken

Keyboard Matrix Faulty.
This is usually K301 or the Ribbon Wire broken at the Control
Pcb.
If just one button is faulty on Turkish models, it can be
removed, rotated by 180 degrees and refitted, on Romanian
versions the button must be replaced if cleaning does not
work.

No OSD or Wrong Colours.
Outputs from pins 22/23/24 are fed via a resistive network
and IC302 to IC500, if any colour or all are missing check
IC302, and resistor matrix. V-Sync or Sandcastle P26/27 missing.

OSD Display Cramped.
R362 sets Osd timing oscillator, C315 is timing Cap.

OSD Jittering.
V-Sync missing.

Controller will not Come out of Stand-by,unless mains button
held in.
IC 300 damaged due to CRT Flash-over, fit 100nF between pins
36 & 41.

Tv Starts up Without Start-up Contacts.
D308 s/c.e

Memory will not Store,(fast sweep on 1st pass also).
R391 O/c.

Memory will not Store.
R390 o/c.R369/R370 o/ IC302 faulty.

R1329 (33R Fusible) o/c.On Non text sets only.
Some batches of IC1300 with date codes 5W or 5WX can cause large
currents to flow if C1323 is 100nF. C1323 is fitted to protect
IC1300 during CRT flashover. C1323 may be changed to 4n7 and
still provide protection of IC1300.

#3 TELETEXT.
This Text chip set is totally different from the Indiana 100
and is controlled from the Micro Controller via a I2C bus line.
It can have various options fitted ie Fast Text/Tops Text, or
different language options, however this chassis was only fitted
with a standard 4 page Text option in production.
The Text contrast is NOT set by the Micro on this chassis,
it is set by a resistor network around IC302.

No Text (Bar in top left of screen when Text is selected).
The SCL line to IC901 travels right around 3/4 of the pcb
on the edge,in some cases this track may have been broken
or badly etched around the corner which has a mounting hole.

No Text. Blank Raster.
Check R G B outputs from Ic 901, Check I2C clock and data
lines to IC901, Check Sandcastle to pin 11 IC901.

Corrupt Text.
Check alignment of L302 Video detector on main Pcb, try turning
core 1/4 turn each way to correct. IC900 Faulty.
C917 (1917) 1n0 leaky.
C916 (1916) 470p o/c
C914 (1914) 270p o/c
C913 (1913) 100p o/c
This may also be caused by the Ram IC902 address or data
failing, this will display in a random fashion, ie the symptoms
may change each time text is selected.

No Text. (Page number only)
Y901 (1901) 13.875mhz faulty
C909 (1909) 27p o/c
C912 (1912) 15p o/c
L900 (1900) 15uh o/c

No Text (Headers and Page No ok)
C915 (1915) 22n o/c

Text not Synchronised.
No video input via K900. X900 /C908 mis-aligned.

#4 STRIATIONS.
This chassis in its unmodified form can show unacceptable
Striations, due to excessive radiation from the Line Output
Transformer, and long leads connecting the Main Chassis to the
TCR panel. To over come this several modifications are required
and are as folows:- Fit a screening can around the Line Output
Transformer. Remove K501 connector from the main pcb and if not
modified remove two of the ribbon wires (to Pins 8&9) and also
at the connector on the TCR panel. Fit a small dims screened
lead to the connector at the TCR end, and the other end is
connected to a hole adjacent to R508 and the Luma delay line,
(only connect the centre wire at this end). Replace C009 (10uF)
with a 100uF capacitor or replace the Telefunken 3010 Tuner
with a Philips U910.

#5 CRT FLASHOVER
Quite a number of 20ins televisions were fitted with an ORION
CRT with a 22mm Mini Neck, these are prone to FLASHOVER which
can destroy IC300 PCA84C640/030, D001 ZTK33 and IC500 TDA3561.
Without replacing the Tube, it is possible to protect these
components.... IC300 fit a 100nF capacitor between pins 36 &
41 on the rear of the PCB. D001 remove C001 (1n0) and replace
with a 100nf cap. IC500 fit a 100nF 250V capacitor across C709
on the CRT Base.
